S ocial media is a cutting edge opportunity for you to
use for your ministry and your church to
communicate with existing or new audiences in a
way that no other communication channel allows.
Some ministers and churches have learnt how to use
social media really well but some still do not know how to
use it well so they end up using it really badly.
Here are some common mistakes that churches and
people in ministry make on social media that you should
avoid to succeed on social media:
1. TREAT SOCIAL MEDIA LIKE A NEWS CHANNEL
Social media is not another broadcast news channel to
put every announcement on. You need to realize that people
are not on social media to get more news. They are there to
engage with who and what they love.
Social media is a way that people express who they are
and interact on that basis. There is a place for news
announcements, but don't expect as much engagement to
your news announcements as you would to your
engagement style posts.
2. BE ON EVERY PLATFORM IMMEDIATELY
When you are new to how to use social media there is a
tendency to look at other ministries and churches and see
how they are using different platforms and desire to use
