Protocols is the term used for the variety of languages
that is used for information to travel over the internet.
(TCP/IP) The internet is a networking infrastructure, a
huge network of networks.
The Internet has reshaped, redefined and bypassed most
of the traditional communication media, which include
telephone, radio, television, paper mail and newspapers.
With the advent of the internet came new services like
email, internet telephones, internet television, on line
music, online /digital newspapers and video and live
streaming.
The Internet has also enabled and accelerated new forms
of personal interactions through instant messaging (IM),
internet forums, social networking and online shopping.
There is no centralized government for the internet or any
policies for access to it or its usage. Each network sets its
own policies. ICANN -the Internet Corporation for
Assigned Names and Numbers is the organization that
maintains the IP Addresses - Internet protocol address
space (every computer has a unique IP address on the
internet by which it is recognized) and the DNS- Domain
Name system (Every website has a domain name through
which it can be accessed) on the internet.
